Get Healthy Florida has made a powerful impact through exciting and often entertaining campaigns that educate and provide health services throughout Central and West Florida.
It all began in 2002 with our first event, in partnership with AdventHealth Centra Care, providing free flu shots to thousands of residents. Since then, we’ve given over 240,000 free flu shots to patients ranging in age from 8 months to 101 years old! But we didn’t stop there.
During these events, along with free flu shots, Get Healthy Florida makes sure there is plenty of health education, lots of hugs and more than enough fun! That’s because, while the health of those attending is of primary importance, Get Healthy Florida also knows that a bit of fun makes it easier on parents trying to get their children vaccinated. Do fun and flu shots go together? Just ask any of the kids – – many of whom forget they even had a shot once they’re back in the car and headed safely home.
And boy do we know how to have fun!
We’ve literally danced our way through elementary schools teaching kids about exercising and eating right. We’ve given out super-flu-fighter capes and snow cones, done face painting and hosted Disney Princess appearances.
Get Healthy Florida, in conjunction with our partners, even holds three Guinness World Records for flu shots and one record for the Project Pressure program, which included the most blood pressure’s taken in a single day.
We’ve given away over 15,000 Colon Cancer screening kits with more than 600 patients reporting their cancer was detected through this test. Participants find the education and help they need to get and stay healthy. In fact, many come back year after year because they now count on what Get Healthy Florida can and does provide.
Some very cool celebrities have endorsed Get Healthy Florida’s program throughout the years.
Have you heard of Jake Owen or Mantissa? How about Joe Montana or Vince Carter?
Yep, those celebrities.
To top it off, we’ve received hours of positive media attention from Networks that have covered Get Healthy Florida Events like:
And finally, none of this would be possible without our many participating partners.
